Where are you from? and a little bit about you
I am originally from Nanaimo, B.C. but I am now living in Victoria, B.C. Canada. I enjoy spending my time with my pets and children, and to relax and unwind, I hand make jewelry. I find it soothes me to create something special with my hands that is unique for each piece.

How did you decide on your shop name?
I was trying to think of something catchy, but not too long, not too boring. Was staring at the pendant box of my very first pendant I had made, and – voila – a name was born for my shop!

Why did you start your business?
I have been fascinated with genuine gemstones since I was a child. Always buying the biggest genuine opals (my favorite stone!) and making my own.

As a teenager, I used to go to auctions and always had an eye for what was real and what was fake. I would come home with a handful of jewelry I might have only paid $20 – $40 for, and would go to my mother’s friend who was a jeweler and have him appraise it.

Often times, what I had purchased was appraised for hundreds to thousands more than what I spent on the items. As I got older, and had my own kids, I was not into jewelry as much, but now they are older, I’ve fallen back in love with my favorite gemstones, and started making my own jewelry. Friends and family loved the pieces I had made for them so much, that they suggested I consider selling what I make. So here I am, doing just that.

Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?
I plan to add more opal pieces and bracelets to my store soon. Currently have a huge 27 ct genuine mystic topaz that is dying to be set and made into a bracelet, a large 8.84 ct genuine aquamarine stone to be made into a bracelet and much more. Keep checking back as there will be new pieces weekly added. I have only just begun.

What is your favorite thing about being a seller?
Sharing something I created that is a one of a kind piece each time and is something special for each individual that wears the piece. Every piece of jewelry, the design would come to me, much like a writer waiting for that special select story to come to their mind to write about.

I truly enjoy seeing my jewelry worn by others, as each piece is a work of art to itself.

What inspires you to make the items in your shop?
I really can’t honestly say. Some pieces take weeks, some take days, for me to be inspired with each exact design that would best suit the gemstone I am wanting to set. The designs, the ideas, just come to me, out of the blue for no reason. Sometimes I am not even thinking about making something, it just hits me and I can’t stop thinking about it till it is made!

My Colombian emerald ring for example, I woke up in the morning with that design etched into my head. I couldn’t get it out of my head until I sat down and got to work on making it come true.

What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?
I would have to say I enjoy making all of them. There is no one item I enjoyed making over the other. It is like they each have their own personality, their own special touch.

It is fun, relaxing, and makes me proud to show off the end result of the hours I spend creating each piece.

Anything else you would like us to know?
I would hope my jewelry inspires others, like I was inspired when I made each piece.

Maybe jewelry is not your thing.
