How did you decide on your shop name?Well.. I didn’t have any option other than my name in the first place (Lol). I did think about something like yeevon’s studio but it doesn’t really click with me cause I’m working solo. The ‘studio’ also sounds very professional and reminds me of graphic designer projects. Hence, I have chosen my own name ‘yeevon’. I would like to publish myself as an illustrator. I would rather people see me, understand me as a person who loves what she draws and believes in her decision. Putting my name as the shop name, people are entering my little world whenever they visit my shop 🙂
Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?
Yes, definitely! I usually update twice or more each week – illustration print and mini note cards. In the future, I’m looking forward to add more items like postcards, greeting cards and wedding goods – invitations, place tags, menu etc. Also, in the end of June, I will have a new series of original pen-drawn illustrations based on winged friends. They are still in the eggs waiting to be hatched XDDo you have a blog, twitter, or facebook page?

I will try my best to have several illustrations each week but one illustration usually take me few days to finish. But on every Sunday, I will have some snap shots on the finishing illustration, which will later available in the store on Tuesday Night.

What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?
I enjoy both making illustration prints and mini notecards. I can’t really pick which one is my favorite at the moment. Each of my illustration prints usually take me around 4-5 days from ideation until the finished one. They are the one which carry most of my personal thoughts and emotions in my life. Some days I have few ideas at a time and some other days my mind just went blank. When ideas come quickly, I will quickly draft them down so I have an on-going lists for next couple weeks. Although I give myself a goal to have one illustration each week, but if the finished draft doesn’t work well, I would rather start all over again just to make sure I can deliver the right emotions.
On the other hand, my mini notecard illustrations allow me to relax and have fun by giving some personalities and stories to them. For example, most of the fox mini notecards are based on how shy the little fox and how much he wants to date this fox girl. So you can have a series of mini notecards for shy people – pick up line card, proposing card etc. Entertainment, yes; Practicality, probably yes probably no. Lolz!
Anything else you would like us to know?My journey as an illustrator are only few months old. I’m still working very hard to learn, develop and search for my unique identity. There are thousands of talented illustrators out there and they are doing very good and their works are great. I wish one day I will reach to their level. At the time being, I’m developing and applying my styles into children illustration picture book, which is one of my dreams. Hopefully I can get it done by the end of the year!
Sometimes I come across items that are hard for me to review. That is never the case when it comes to art. Every artist has different styles and techniques that make each piece uniquely different and beautiful. That is also the case with YeeVon. Her art has a beautiful cartoony effect and I love it. YeeVon was kind in allowing me ‘Autum Spirit’ To review. This piece reminds me of innocence. There is a beautiful girl surrounded by the essence of autumn. Fallen leaves decorate the ground around the girl. The colors are very suitable together and they pop in just the right places. YeeVon has a magnificent eye for the intricate details that are placed into each piece of art. YeeVon also has printed Autum Spirit onto very high quality paper and her art would coincide with many different colors of frames. I normally have to put every piece of art into a plain black frame to look ok but this art will look good in almost any color! I was also able to get a firsthand look at ‘Love has never been greater’ the owls are simply darling. It is just a basic Pen and Ink sketch which in truth is one of my favorite styles. Very fun!
