Getting to know Sewn From The Heart (Artfire shop)

Where are you from?

Sewing and writing to me is an art. It is relaxing and Ienjoy it very much. The things I sew are what I use myself to make thingseasier, and thought others would like to as well. I was born with JuvenileRheumatoid Arthritis and ADHD. Neither of the diagnoses was made until later inlife. I am permanently in a wheel chair and cannot walk. If it was not for theproper medications I would not be able to move my fingers or be able to writeor sew. God is the reason I have the strength to write and sew and live eachday of my life. Arizona is my home and I love it!

What items do you carry in your shop?

Walker bags, cell phone cases, adult bibs, Painted items,Bible book covers, Different sized pillow cases, The books I wrote, Cloth toteabgs, Sunglasses bags, Sissors cases.

How did you decide on your shop name?

A close friend (myGod given angel) gave me my name, and I fell in love with it.

Do you have anything new you plan on adding to your store?

I have a lot I’m thinking of learning. Coasters, potholders, place mates are some ideas. I have no idea when I’m going to getaround to it all.

Do you have a blog, twitter, or facebook page?

I use the Artfire blog for now. I find it so much betterand I can write the way I want to. I also have a web page. SFTH.org

What is your inspiration when making a new item?

One of my focuses is kids, teens, and young adults withdisabilities from birth or from injuries due to accidents. There are so manyyounger people that live with disabilities, myself one of them. I chose fun, bright, bold colors and fabrics for that very reason. I like to make peoplehappy, and I can only hope my items do that.

What items in your shop do you most enjoy making and why?
The Bible book covers. I have a strong faith and I enjoymaking something that reflects that.

Anything else you would like us to know?
I craft from my heart. If my heart is not into it, itdoes not get done. If you no longer enjoy your craft, then it’s time to stop ordo something different.
